Exploring Renfrewshire – A Scottish Homecoming
Spending quality time with Louise, exploring her hometown, and meeting her friends and family—this is Renfrewshire, Scotland.
We embraced the moody, rainy, and utterly gorgeous Scottish weather on a hike to Loch Humphrey, where the landscape looked like something out of a painting. The loch provided a breathtaking backdrop, but I have to admit—I was equally captivated by the rock walls. I bloody love rock walls. There’s something about them that feels so distinctly Scottish, like they’ve been there for centuries, quietly holding the land together.
Along the way, we passed a homestead perched with the most incredible view, and I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to live there. Waking up to rolling hills and misty mornings, surrounded by the kind of beauty that never gets old… I can see the appeal.
Louise also took me to Mar Hall Golf and Spa Resort, a golf club that looks as Scottish as Scottish gets. The kind of place where you half expect to see a kilted golfer teeing off while sipping a dram of whisky. If there’s a more atmospheric clubhouse out there, I’d be surprised.
Even the simple act of walking around town feels special. There’s a quiet beauty to Renfrewshire, a connection to history and nature that’s impossible to ignore. It’s no wonder I’ve quickly fallen in love with this part of the world—the home of my ancestors, and now, a place that feels a little like home to me too.
Enjoy the photos, and if you ever get the chance, take a walk through these landscapes. They’ll stay with you long after you’ve left.
