Landing in London
With a work trip planned for the UK, Louise and I decided to time it and pad it to coincide with her trip home to Scotland. Louise flew from Sydney to attend a wedding and see family for four weeks; whilst I joined her in the second half to begin an epic tour of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Here though, were the first couple amazing days in London.
We stayed in Camden and, of course, spent plenty of time wandering the markets. We filled ourselves full of cafe’s, pints (first beer ever in England is hereby consumed at The Camden Eye) and plenty of people watching.
One evening was especially brilliant. I was able to catch up with my great mate and colleague (Olly Scott) for a drink at POLPO in London. We work together at William Hill and formed a strong bond around our work, England vs Australia banter and yes you guessed it; cricket.
An older colleague (Michelle), who now works for William Hill in the UK, also made it to Olly’s London reunion. Additionally lovely and a wonderful night!
Below are just a few samples of the sights in and around Camden. Alas I’d like to have spent more time in London, but we were quickly departing for Scotland in a couple days. At the conclusion of our holiday, I’ll be living in Yorkshire (northern England )for several weeks on a project with our Data Engineering Architect.
This will be an immense 5-6 weeks. The hardest part is only being able to video chat with the kids, but we’ll return as a family in the near future and do it all together!
