Hayden turns 1

Our baby is one. It seems like an age since the last time we’ve sat a baby in front of a cake and said, “Have at it!” In fact, the last time was 2003 – 6 years ago almost to the day.

Hayden’s birthday maintains our accidental tradition of having birthdays virtually overlapping. Nevan is Feb 1, I am Feb 5 and Jenifer is Feb 6. Liam is Apr 26 and now Hayden Apr 29. We’ve just knocked Liam’s birthday out of the way and now Jenifer was back at her baking best so soon.

As mentioned in the previous blog, we go away on holidays to the Gold Coast in a couple weeks. Due to this, we chose to have small, quiet birthdays for the two youngest this year. The trip up to the Goldie has basically turned into an extended birthday present which we all profit from!

It’s been a magical year and hard to believe it’s only been a year that we’ve had Hayden. It seems much, much longer. Parents would know what I speak of when I say that I can’t really remember life without him.  He is a joy daily, we are re-learning so many things after such a spell in baby parenting.
