Urquhart Castle, Scotland
Urquhart Castle, sitting on the bank of Loch Ness in Drumnadrochit; Scotland’s middle north. Significant during the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th Century, it was raided and saw conflict on a number of occasions between the Grant Clan and the MacDonald’s before being partially destroyed in 1692.
Louise and I enjoyed our time walking through and exploring the ruins at our own pace. The history of the place and the fact that we’re looking out over Loch Ness itself is absolutely breathtaking.
