41st Birthday Glamping at Paperbark Camp, Jervis Bay

Birthdays are best celebrated with great company, a touch of adventure, and a bit of indulgence—and my 41st birthday at Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay ticked all the boxes. Nestled in the serene bushland of Huskisson, Paperbark Camp is glamping at its finest, blending luxury and nature in the most stunning way.

Forget about roughing it—this was camping with serious style. Our canvas safari tent was beautifully appointed, complete with a plush bed, fine linen, and an open-air ensuite that allowed us to bathe beneath the stars. That was certainly a highlight, our secluded bathtub overlooking the bush, where we could unwind while being completely surrounded by nature. Of course, we weren’t completely alone—a cheeky little possum decided to crash our bath, even going so far as to nip my toe in the dark!

Beyond the camp, Jervis Bay delivered its usual magic. We spent time exploring Huskisson, a charming coastal town with beautiful beaches and plenty of places to relax. We also packed a gourmet picnic basket, overflowing with delicious treats, and enjoyed a leisurely day outdoors.

One of the most memorable moments? Kayaking with Gill, glass of red in hand (because why not?) as we soaked up the beauty of the river. It was one of those perfect, peaceful moments that make a getaway truly special.

This birthday wasn’t about big parties or loud celebrations—it was about unplugging, unwinding, and appreciating the moment. Spending time with Gill in such a tranquil, beautiful setting was the perfect way to mark another year. Great food, stunning nature, a little adventure, and a whole lot of relaxation—what more could I have asked for?
