Has finally made it to my neck of the woods. I’ve played with it before; it was released in the USA in 2007 for only a handful of major cities. It was fun to “drive” around places I had never been before but I have to say it’s even more fun to “drive” around places I have been. I’ve already taken a peek at past houses I’ve lived in, schools and even the McDonalds I worked at as a teenager.
And I am looking now at the house I live in. When I spin around, the boy across the street is mowing his lawn. My neighbour annoyingly has her car parked in the street. It’s a beautiful sunny day, and as I “drive” down the street I get the award winning beach views I’m so used to seeing. Yes, very cool.
Google Street View displays photos that were previously taken by a camera mounted on a car, and can be navigated using either the arrow keys on the keyboard or by using the mouse to click on arrows displayed on the screen. Using these devices, the photos can be viewed in different sizes, from any direction, and from a variety of angles. Lines that are displayed along the street that is shown indicate the direction followed by that street view camera car.
Go on, use it. In the USA maps.google.com and Australia maps.google.com.au. Type in your address and hope an option appears for “Street View”. Have fun.

I Googled my old Australia in Traralgon. It has the “Street View” option. There’s my old house, and my brother-in-law’s Calais is in the driveway next door (little Sis bought the house next door).
I panned the camera around with nostalgia setting in and there’s my old neighbor standing at the gate to his backyard looking straight at the camera. Ok, he’s not quite looking straight at the camera because I got a better picture by using his address and they’ve blurred his face out
